yea la I know no updates lately. I will update soon as soon as I got back home. Hmmm. Anywaiz I was youtubing just now and I found vids of my new fav singer, Shuuhei Kita! Yay! He sang OPs for 2 of my all time fav animes, Natume Yuujincho and Persona ~trinity soul~ Love his songs! Both are totally diff songs anywaiz. For natsume Yuujincho he sang Issei no Sei, which means 'Ready, Set, Run!' and it is a very soothing and happy-happy song that suits the anme very calming and peaceful atmosphere. And there is even a monkey in the vid! How cute! Guys with animals and showing love to them are just so cute! As for his song in Persona, it is very different because it is so action packed. Breaki'n Through is very rock-filled and its so full of 'action' if you know what I mean. Persona is a mecha and sci-fi anime so obviously this suits this anime very well. Ahhh he looks so hot in this vid!!! Ooooh. Don't you know I love Japanese guys?? Mamoru Miyano, Eiji Wentz, Tomokazu Sugita.... Need me say more? Japanese guys are hotter then Chinese guys! No doubt about that! Just watch the vid and fell in love with it! If you are an anime-hater, shut up and get lost NOW.
The Malaysian Media has undoubtedly growing rapidly in the past few decades. However there are many flaws in our media. Our government has been in power over our media so there are no freedom in what our media is allowed to expose. The newspapers for an example has always been going through an extensive overlooking and false editing. Thus making the news that was produced far from the truth. Malaysian Media is still very 'inexperience' compared to the likes of United States and the Britain, which the media practices freedom of speech. Thanks to the Malaysian Constitution and other Malaysian Law such as the Official Secret Act, our media has always been pro-government. However since the late 20th 90's, a new type of media has found. Daring Malaysians such as Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Jeff Ooi and Nathaniel Tan has been blogging about the local news, especially on the political news, without and censorship or editing. The most popular one has to be malaysiakini.com which is set up by Raja Petra Kamaruddin which claims to be 'practicing an editorial policy that is consistently supportive of justice, human rights, democracy, freedom of speech and good governance.'. Needless to say this blog became one of the most popular media in Malaysia defeating the main Malaysian newspaper, The Star. It is also the most controversial media especially of late because of its reports of the famous Altantuta murder and criticism towards the Prime Minister's son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin.
Malaysians became more opened to all sorts of news that was once considered a taboo. Topics like AIDS, migrant workers and Islam is now always a hot debate among Malaysians, even among the school-going students. To me, it is both a good and a bad move because it gives a chance for Malaysians to speak up and let their voices be heard for the first time without the fear of being put behind the bars for charges in ISA or whatnot. However it is a bad move because it has stir up many negative movements, and stirring up hatred, insecurity and despise towards one another. After the reports of the Anwar Sodomy Case, it has received so many news reports that it even got the attention of news agencies from other countries and even world famous politicians like Al Gore has a say about the arrest. It put Malaysia in a kind of dire situation that our political system has received negative reports.
The Malaysian Media context has seen profound changes over the past few decades. Beginning with a controlled media environment where the print media worked under annual licensing scheme and broadcast were controlled by respective States, Malaysia has gone through a process of liberalization and and deregulation of the media landscape since the early 1980's. Today Malaysian Media continue to see some form of control over the mainstream media through licensing of the print media and State control of broadcasting but in addition there are a range of commercial radio and IT station that are in operation.
I think the government should implement new laws that loosen up the way and topics that our media is allowed to report, but at the same time it must be controlled so that the public won't get into public disagreement and arguments. Laws like ISA and OSA should be abolished because the public should have the right to know what is going on in our country. No one should be kept from the truth and the government ought to straighten up the law in order to ensure Malaysia is a peaceful democratic country.
In the future no doubt there will be getting more and more of bloggers and journalists like Raja Petra Kamaruddin to report Malaysian news that is fair. News reports should not be siding either the Government or the Opposition. It should be fair and giving both sides a chance to speak for themselves and and let their differences be resolved. Prime Minister Abdullah has indeed done a goods thing as to allow more transparency in the local news media but there should be more actions done to ensure that the media reports news that the people should know without causing any negative effects after that.
